Air Miles Redeem Big Event: Get 20% Back (March 5-18)
A Rare Chance to Stretch Your Air Miles
Air Miles is running a “Redeem Big” event from March 5–18, 2026. If you’ve got a balance sitting around — especially from a BMO Air Miles Mastercard signup — this is one of the better redemption opportunities that comes up.
The Offer at a Glance
| What | Get 20% of your redeemed Miles back |
| When | March 5 – March 18, 2026 |
| Minimum redemption | 95 Miles |
| Maximum rebate | 1,500 Miles back |
| Requirement | Must opt-in BEFORE redeeming |
How It Works
You need to opt-in first. Click the “opt in” button in the Air Miles app or on airmiles.ca anytime between now and March 18. Then, any eligible redemption during the event period gets 20% of the Miles returned to your account.
Example: Redeem 1,000 Miles → Get 200 Miles back. Redeem 5,000 Miles → Get 1,000 Miles back (but capped at 1,500 max).
What Counts
- In-store redemptions at participating partners (Shell, etc.) — 95 Miles = $10
- eVouchers ordered online at rewards.airmiles.ca
- Merchandise redemptions
- Travel bookings through Air Miles Travel
- Entertainment rewards
The Math
To max out the 1,500 Mile rebate, you’d need to redeem 7,500 Miles during the event. That’s $789 worth of in-store redemptions at Shell (where 95 Miles = $10).
Hitting the cap is very realistic if you got a welcome bonus from a BMO Air Miles World Elite card — those bonuses often run 3,000+ Miles. Redeem 7,500, get 1,500 back, and you’ve effectively stretched your balance by 20%.
Watch Outs
- Shell limit: Max $60 (570 Miles) per transaction, up to 5 transactions/day
- Daily limit: $750 (7,125 Miles) across all redemptions per day
- Timing: Miles back may take a few days to post
- Personal Shopper redemptions don’t count
Is It Worth It?
For most people, yes. Air Miles used to run 30% bonus redemption events, but those haven’t appeared in a while. At 20% back, this is about as good as Air Miles redemptions get.
Consider maxing out if:
- You have a significant Air Miles balance (especially from a BMO Air Miles World Elite signup bonus)
- You shop at Shell, Metro, or other participating partners regularly
- You can use the 20% rebate to stretch your balance further
The eVoucher angle: Even without an immediate purchase planned, you can redeem for eVouchers at retailers you’ll shop at eventually — Amazon, Esso, The Keg, Cineplex, and dozens more. Buy the gift cards now, use them later. The 20% rebate effectively gives you a discount on future spend.
Only skip if:
- You have a very small balance (under 500 Miles) — not worth the effort
- You genuinely value Air Miles higher than ~10.5¢/Mile for aspirational travel redemptions
How to Opt In
Visit the Air Miles offer page or open the Air Miles app. Click “opt in” before you make any redemptions.
